We continue to evolve and finesse ourDrakesbrook wine collectionwith each vintage, as we strive to best express the fruit from our Waroona vineyard. Our aim is to challenge traditional thinking and showcase the potential of the Waroona area to produce wines of distinction.

And so, this month we have a new release to add to our collection, and one we are exceptionally proud of…

Grandest of grand, we guarantee that our new release2014 Redtail Reserve Shirazwill deliver on expectation over and over again. Complexity of flavour, texture and structure are experienced through each sip, tantalising your tastebuds and seeing you finish the bottle before you know it… Yes, we are speaking from experience here!

Over the years we have experienced all extremes in the vineyard, as expected from mother nature. But, occasionally everything in the vineyard comes together and exceptional fruit is the result. 2014 was such a year, when the stars aligned and the ideal growing season was experienced here in Waroona. With beautifully large bunches of fruit filling our vines, we handpicked parcels that were specially selected for basket pressing. The wine then fermented in open fermenters, hand-plunged twice daily and stored in new American Oak for 18 months. We knew right from the beginning that we were in for something special with the 2014 Shiraz grapes, and our expectations were exceeded! After bottling the Shiraz, it was then further matured for 4 years before a very limited release of 1500 bottles, that we are thrilled to release this month.

The combination of a great vintage and very select winemaking technique resulted in a stunning Shiraz that is deep crimson in colour.On first pour, this Shiraz is brimming with a bouquet of cherry, blackberry, and a measure of finest American oak settling superbly.

The rich, smooth palate overflows with blood plum and blackberry fruits enhanced by oak undertones.Our Shiraz is unique and vibrant, yet it continues to develop, due to the acidity and tannins in our Waroona fruit.

Modestly textured, savoury tannins continue effortlessly, offering an alluring grip and a very satisfying mouth feel.With careful cellaring, this wine will continue to develop in the medium term,making it a great addition to any cellar. 

We suggest aerating this wine as you pour it into your glass to allow our Waroona fruit to really open up and sing.
